The Afro-American Flag, Pride and
Dignity, was developed in 1989 in South Central L.A. It was chosen as the symbol to
represent unity, family, strength, self-respect, pride and dignity, which leads to
success.It's
purpose is to establish a means, by which to recognize in a positive way, the
contributions made by black Americans to the United States of America. It can be
flown every day just because you are celebrating the fact of being a proud Black
American.
The Afro-American Flag will
distinguish a black owned business, giving immediate visibility to those who wish to
patronize the business of their community. It can help the community grow in prosperity.
If positive role models are what
you are looking for, just imagine seeing these beautiful flags flying outside your home or
well established business or professional building. Positive recognition makes a body feel
good.
The educational value is
tremendous. First of all children will want to know what do the colors mean? Why are the
flags flying today? Whose birthday is it? What invention or great achievement was made on
this day and by what Black American? Adults will have to sharpen their knowledge to keep
these youngsters well informed.
